      Students take a trip to 'Oz'
            FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - Fourth- and fifth-graders at the Joseph J. Catena School, Burlington Road, performed the school's first musical production, "The Wizard of Oz," for the public on March 8-9.

Ashley Melissa Reznik, daughter of Connie and Jules Reznik of Manalapan, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the University of Delaware, Newark, Del.

      Preschool will be first step in church's plan
            FREEHOLD - Church officials at New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, Throckmorton Street, are preparing to open a day- care center and a preschool. The facilities are expected be ready by early summer. "The preschool, which is called All God's Children, is a part of the overall vision the Lord gave our pastor in 1997," the Rev. Ricky Pierce said.

      Students enjoy a day of Colonial experiences
            FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - Teachers at the West Freehold School and members of the Freehold Township Historic Preservation Commission recently worked together to offer fifth-graders an opportunity to experience Colonial times firsthand. The Colonial Day event took place in February at the school on Castronova Way and at the historic West Freehold schoolhouse on Wemrock Road.

      Recalling a N.Y. superstar
           CHRIS KELLY staff Taylor Mills School pupil Hunter Mauro, 9, went all the way back to the 1960s to find a person to learn about for the Manalapan elementary school's "Superstars" program. The football and the jersey are clues to the identity of former New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath. As part of the project, the Taylor Mills pupils dressed up as characters from history and shared the information with their fellow students.
