      Fobes, Accardi, Ostner head All-District team
            Howell remained on top of Freehold Regional District wrestling in 2006-07. John Gagliano's Rebels were ranked in the top 10, repeated as the Shore Conference A North Division champions, and repeated their victories in Delaware in the Battle at the Beach and Roselle Park Invitational.

      Kelly, Budra, Bohn top District bowling teams
            Howell's girls again provided the bulk of the highlights of the high school bowling season. Dave Clampffer's Rebels won their seventh straight Shore Conference Division title and the Freehold Regional District title to boot. The conference shuffled its divisions this year with more schools fielding teams. It mattered little to Howell, which maintained its championship ways.

      Lack of offense burns Colts one last time
            A lack of offensive production finally caught up with the CBA hockey team. And it couldn't have come at a more inopportune time.             Teams knew what was coming when they played the Marlboro Middle School's sixth/seventh-grade girls basketball team. Doing something about it, however, was something else. Armed with a deep and athletic team, coach Maria Cetta applied the full-court pressure on teams.

            Freehold's Michael Zuppe, a junior at Christian Brothers Academy, was recently named the High School Player of the Month for February for the Gordon Conference by the New Jersey Devils. Zuppe, a defenseman, was also named to the Gordon Conference First Team.

      Jr. Mustang wrestlers win individual, team titles
            The Marlboro Junior Mustangs wrestling program experienced success at every level in 2006-07. The program, run through the Marlboro Recreation Department, had an overall dual-meet record with its three teams of 30-6-1 in the Mid-Jersey Wrestling League.

      Blues win Sportsmanship Award
            For the Brookdale Community College women's basketball team, next year has already started. After getting a taste of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Championships at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, N.Y., last weekend, the Jersey Blues want more.

            Tim Mulligan and Hector Rivera staged a 10-mile duel on Sunday.Competing in the Nestle Beverage Co. St. Paddy's 10-Miler, conducted by the Freehold Area Running Club, the road racers had the back roads of Freehold Township to themselves.

      Hawks play home opener today at 3 p.m.
            When Brett Brach announced that he was going to attend Monmouth University to play baseball, no one was more pleased than his older brother Brad Brach. Brad was already at Monmouth and an established starter for the Hawks.

            The Freehold District is well represented on the 2007 Felician College baseball team. Howell's Kevin Barrett and Manalapan's Kevin Ernst, Jordan Noval and Dave Schoer are all playing for the Golden Falcons. The team is 9-11 having completed its Southern swing.

      Freehold Twp. hosting Senior All-Star Games
      Shore's top basketball players top off tomorrow night
            It turns out that Freehold Township's marvelous quartet - Eddie Fischer, T.J. LaFalce, Marcus Roberson and Roger Wilmot - did not play their last home game after all. When the Pats beat Trenton Central in the Central Jersey Group III semifinals earlier this month, it was an emotional game for the seniors; it was the final home game of their careers.
