      Obituaries

      Librada Gotanco

      Mrs. Gotanco, 74, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Aug. 19 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Ginatilan, Cebu, Philippines, she came to America on Aug. 13, 2005. A Roman Catholic dedicated to several private devotions, she was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Benito; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gil and Rowena Gotanco of Morganville, and Glenn and Belle Gotanco, Anthony and Tina Gotanco, and Guy and Rachel Gotanco, all of the Philippines; three daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia and Junn Domingo, Guia Gotanco and Gwen Gotanco, all of the Philippines; a sister, Laura Cadungog, also of the Philippines; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Thomas More Church, with interment being held in the Philippines at Manila Memorial Park. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

      Caroline Reggiani

      Mrs. Reggiani, 85, of Marlboro, died Aug. 19 at CareOne at Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Inverness, Fla., for many years before moving to Marlboro, where she was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Mazzola and Jerry Sovelove of Marlboro; a granddaughter and her husband, Danielle and Matt Rownin; and a great-grandson, Connor Rownin. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Marlboro, with interment being held in Florida. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

      Helen C. Brezden

      Mrs. Brezden, 83, of Freehold, died Aug. 3 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she had resided there before moving to the borough of Freehold in 1960. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mrs. Brezden was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 1981. Surviving are two nieces, Joyce McGraw and Linda Roketzki. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

      Celia Walsky

      Mrs. Walsky, 89, of Freehold Township, died Aug. 13 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Philadelphia and Galveston, Texas, as well as in Newark, North Arlington and Manalapan, over the course of 20 years before moving to Freehold Township two years ago. Prior to retiring, she was the owner of Cele's yarn shop in Kearny and Hightstown. Mrs. Walsky was also a volunteer for the Monmouth County Division of Social Services. She was predeceased in 1980 by her husband, Milton. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel and Michelle Walsky of Lambertville, and Kenneth Walsky of Stratford, Va. A graveside funeral service was held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin section of Woodbridge. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

      Matilda Elizabeth "Gigi" Slafkan

      Mrs. Slafkan, 97, of Colts Neck, died Aug. 18 at the Applewood Estates health-care center, Freehold Township. Born in Elizabeth, she had resided there before moving to Colts Neck 15 years ago. She was a member of the Colts Neck Reformed Church. Mrs. Slafkan was predeceased by her husband, Emil August Slafkan, in 1972, as well as a granddaughter, Pamela Lee Hirsch, in 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Carole Hirsch of Colts Neck; two granddaughters and their husbands, Wendy and Edward Janowski, and Dr. Linda Hirsch Soriano and William Soriano; four great-grandchildren; and longtime companion Ralph Buonerba. A brief service of prayer and remembrance was held at the Colts Neck Reformed Church, with the Rev. Chris VandeBunte officiating. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.       Edward J. Riehl

      Mr. Riehl, 57, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Aug. 22 at Franklin Care Center, Franklin Park. Born in Hoboken, he had lived in Passaic Park before moving to Morganville 10 years ago. Prior to his disability, he was a self-employed tractor-trailer driver for GTEK Inc., Morganville. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Tracey Riehl; a son, Zach Riehl of Lodi; two daughters, Kathryn Marie Riehl and Grace Anne Riehl, both of Morganville; two brothers, James and Freddy Riehl, both of Hackensack; two sisters, Joyce Logan of Clay, N.Y., and Linda Marsh of DeRuyter, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Clarissa. A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Marlboro, followed by interment, which was private. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

      Domenick Cuccio

      Mr. Cuccio, 73, of Barnegat, died Aug. 25 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in North Edison and Marlboro before moving to Barnegat four years ago. He was a master mechanic for the International Longshoremen's Association, Elizabeth, for 25 years. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the military during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Amy (Rende); three sons and daughters-in-law, Sal and Marci Cuccio of Hillsborough, Anthony and Amy Cuccio of Milltown, and Domenick and Lisa Cuccio of Kenilworth; a daughter and son-in-law, Claudine and Ricky Falcone of the Fords section of Woodbridge; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Connie Gaglia and Anna Cuccio, both of New York, and Rosie and Freddie Gentile of Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Cookie Misiano of North Carolina; and four granddaughters and a grandson. Services were held at the Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick, followed by a Mass at St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. Entombment took place at St. Gabriel's Mausoleum, also Marlboro.
