      Info offered on home research

FREEHOLD - The Freehold Borough Historic Preservation Advisory Committee will hold an informal session on "How to Research the History of Your House" at the Freehold Public Library, East Main Street, on June 7 from 7-9 p.m.

Members of the committee will be on hand to help Freehold Borough homeowners who would like to trace the history of their house, identify its architectural style, or would just like to learn more about the Freehold Historic House Marker Program.

The House Marker Program was begun to encourage Freehold's homeowners to research the history and architecture of their homes. The goal of the program is to increase the understanding and appreciation of Freehold's historic architecture. After collecting the necessary information and completing a brief survey form, owners of borough homes more than 50 years old receive a plaque.

Information will be available on how to locate and use resources such as deeds, maps, public records, family histories and historic photographs. Com-mittee members will answer questions about the historic house marker program and how to complete the survey form. Participants are encouraged to bring photos, their own research and other forms of documentation about their homes.

This information session is free, and no registration is required. For more information contact Wayne Mason, (732) 866-1693.
