Regina Billingsley Ms. Billingsley, 48, of Vineland, died Oct. 9 at home. She was born in Neptune Township and had lived in Freehold before moving to Vineland. She was predeceased by her parents, Willie C. and Evelyn Billingsley. Surviving are her children, Ericka Billingsley, Lauren Ashley White and Daniel Billingsley; two sisters, Flossie DeBraux of Atlantic City and Annie Lois Billingsley of Freehold; five brothers, Jerry Wilson of Asbury Park, Willie Junior Billingsley of Howell, Benjamin Billingsley of Lakewood, Willie Frank Billingsley of Brick, and Leo Billingsley of Camden; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service was held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
Hubert S. Walling Mr. Walling, 84, of Middletown, died Oct. 26 at home. Born in Massachusetts, he had been a resident of Middletown for the past 50 years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and was active in several local civic groups. Mr. Walling was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Elinore “Ellie” Walling, in 2000. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Kelly Walling of Middletown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Gail Walling of Middletown, and Joellen and Edmund Acker of Colts Neck; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. John J. Pojawa Sr. Mr. Pojawa, 63, of Freehold, died Oct. 9 in New Gretna, Burlington County. He was born in Jersey City and had lived in Englishtown before moving to Freehold. Mr. Pojawa was a carpenter. Prior to that, he was a purchasing agent for Signalite, Neptune, from 1979 to 1980; an assistant purchasing agent for the Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Co., Holmdel, from 1977 to 1978; purchasing agent for Central Jersey Bank and Trust Co., Freehold; and was employed by Tom McAn Shoes, East Brunswick, and Inward Freight Department and Purchasing, New York City. He was a graduate of James J. Ferris High School, Jersey City; the Academy of Advanced Traffic Management, New York City; and the Electronic Computer Programming Institute, New Brunswick. He also attended Brookdale Community College, Lincroft. Mr. Pojawa is survived by a son, John Pojawa of Englishtown; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Yvette M. and Raye Futerfas of Eatontown, and Suzanne Pojawa and her companion, Douglas Lindstrom, Jeanine J. and Chris Bidun, and Simonne Eugenia Pojawa, all of Englishtown; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Marilyn Pojawa of Nutley; a sister, Judy Swallow of Pine Beach; and two grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Gregory N. Caffyn Mr. Caffyn, 34, of Howell, died suddenly Oct. 9 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was an organ donor. Originally from Oceanport, he had resided in Howell for the past five years. A graduate of Oceanport Grammar School and Shore Regional High School, West Long Branch, Mr. Caffyn was employed as a warehouse manager for the MGM Paper Co. in Hamilton. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood. An avid New York Giants and New York Mets fan, he also loved cooking and going fishing. Mr. Caffyn is survived by his wife, Maureen Meyers Caffyn; two sons, Gregory Robert, 5, and Kaden Daly, 2; his parents, Michael Sr. and Anne Nelson Caffyn of Oceanport; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Michael and Kris Caffyn of Manahawkin, and Daniel Caffyn of Oceanport; three uncles and two aunts, Edgar C. Caffyn of Oceanport, godparents William C. and Barbara Caffyn of Mays Landing, and Milton and Joyce Caffyn of Eatontown; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Meyers; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Debbie and Bob Compton of Manalapan; two nieces; two nephews; and many cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach, followed by interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. Mildred Christina Moran Mrs. Moran, 80, of Howell, died Oct. 7 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she had lived in Staten Island, N.Y., and Manchester before moving to Howell a year ago. Mrs. Moran was secretarial supervisor at IBJ Schroeder Bank and Trust, New York, for 16 years before retiring in 1991. She was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, Staten Island. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; a son, Andrew Moran, and his partner, Max Marty Goff, of Howell; a daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Martin Coyle of Freehold; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Jim MacDonald of Las Vegas; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held at the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown, Burlington County.
David F. Van Brunt Mr. Van Brunt, 70, of Union Beach, died Oct. 5 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Newark, he resided in Belleville and Irvington prior to moving to Union Beach 50 years ago. He was employed in telephone sales at Gales Industrial, Keyport, for 17 years, retiring in 2003. Prior to that, he was employed at Conover Lumber for 24 years. He served with the U.S. Airforce during peacetime. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Thomas Van Brunt; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Vincent Portera of Howell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Brian Nesbihal of Middletown, and Stephanie and Patrick Laberdee of Union Beach; and seven grandchildren. Sadie V. Dombroski Dobry Peterson Mrs. Peterson, 92, of Old Bridge, died Oct. 23 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in Freehold before moving to Old Bridge 50 years ago. Mrs. Peterson was a machinist at Precision Casting, Morganville, for 40 years, retiring in 1970. She was predeceased by her first husband, Victor Dobry, in 1947, and her second husband, Frederick Peterson, in 1998. She is survived by a son, Paul Dobry of Lakewood; a daughter, Irene Weston of Hazlet; two sisters, Jane Carbone of Red Bank and Ann Darcey of Millville; a sister-in-law, Jean Dombroski of Maryland; two stepsons, Robert Peterson of Tennessee and Frederick Peterson of Toms River; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Peterson and Dorothy Peterson, both of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Bernadette’s Roman Catholic Church, Parlin, followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. Arrangements were by the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
Joseph J. Pettinato III Mr. Pettinato, of Hazlet, died Oct. 21 at home. Born in Jersey City, he relocated to Hazlet 45 years ago. Mr. Pettinato was the founder of JB Sales & Service Inc. and JB Sprinkler Systems. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He was a member of the Monmouth County Bowling Association, where he held several offices and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. He was also a delegate to the New Jersey State Bowling Association. Mr. Pettinato was predeceased by a son, Joseph J. Pettinato IV, in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Burns; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Bonnie Pettinato of Manalapan; five daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Joseph Puccio of Hazlet, Ellen and Jamie Compesi of Garfield, Maryann and Michael Scotti of Aberdeen, Lori and Mark Lear of Morgan, and Joyce and Kevin Murphy of Middletown; a daughter-in-law, Robin Pettinato of Millstone; two brothers, Robert Pettinato of Somerset and Ben Smith Sr. of Matawan; two sisters, Dorothy Tomasello of Margate and Bernadette White of Toms River; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at Holy Family Church, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Dorothy Tuccillo Anderson Mrs. Anderson, 73, of Providence, R.I., formerly of East Brunswick, died Sept. 29 in Rhode Island. Her husband, Ralph Anderson, died in 2004. Surviving are her mother, Angela Tuccillo of Colts Neck; two sons, Ralph Anderson of Colts Neck and Gregory Anderson of Richmond, R.I.; and four grandchildren, Brad, Brian, Anthony and Caterina. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
