Barkalow fund-raiser to benefit hurricane victims

The Clifton T. Barkalow Middle School, Freehold Township, will sponsor a Hurricane Benefit Concert from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 18 to benefit the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The event will be held at the new West Freehold School, Castronova Way, off Route 537 west between Wemrock Road and the Freehold Gardens Hotel.

All proceeds will go to the Red Cross.

The concert will feature music by Barkalow teachers Rob Caputo and Joe Lyttle. In addition, there will be a gift auction, baked goods and T-shirts for sale, and coffee and tea.

Admission is $5 at the door.

Last year’s fund-raiser, which benefited the victims of the December tsunami in Southeast Asia, raised $12,000. This year’s organizers, faculty members Tara Kriete and Danielle Sansevere, hope to exceed that amount.

For further information, contact Kriete at (732) 431-4403, ext. 2326 or Sansevere at (732) 431-4403, ext. 2320.
