Joan Reilly Chaney Mrs. Chaney, 75, of Toms River, died May 10 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she had lived in East Brunswick before moving to Toms River five years ago. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Vincent Chaney Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent Jr. and Michele Chaney of Old Bridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Joe Guiliano of Manalapan; a brother, Richard Reilly Sr. of Cape Cod, Mass., formerly of East Brunswick; and four grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Perrineville section of Millstone, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park and Mausoleum, East Brunswick. Stephen Kura Mr. Kura, 81, of Manalapan, died April 27 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Deer Park, Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan 42 years ago. Mr. Kura was the owner of Galaxy Travel Agency, Englishtown, for 15 years before retiring in 1990. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. Mr. Kura is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cynthia Kura of Yardley, Pa., and Denise and Louis Borzone of Ringoes; a sister, Bernice Kura of Queens; and three grandsons. A chapel service was held at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902. The Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Agnes T. Keim Mrs. Keim, 76, of Freehold Township, died May 1. Born in White Plains, N.Y., she had resided in Freehold Township for more than 50 years and was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Freehold. She was also a founding member of both the Freehold Township 4-H Roughriders and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Freehold Township Independent Fire Co. Mrs. Keim was predeceased in 2000 by her husband, Charles, and earlier this year by a sister, Eleanor Lassen. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roger P. and Monse Keim of Freehold Township, Charles T. Keim, also of Freehold Township, and Thomas K. and Jody Keim of Nazareth, Pa.; her mother, Ella McCaffery of Freehold Township; a sister, Patricia Penny of Mississippi; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Julia E. Clark Mrs. Clark, 86, of Freehold, died May 10 at Care One at Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Summit, Newark, Freehold and Marlboro before returning to Freehold 15 years ago. Prior to retiring 20 years ago, she was an actuarial assistant for Prudential Insurance Co., Holmdel, for 10 years. She was also a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mrs. Clark was predeceased in 1992 by her husband, Paul Vincent Clark. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Wayne and Mary F. Clark of Newtown Square, Pa., and Paul V. Clark of Vero Beach, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen S. and Frank Udvarhely, also of Vero Beach, and Carolyn and Dennis D’Amico of Freehold; a brother, Julius Pruszkowski of Union; a sister, Henrietta Hynes of Mantoloking; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Rose of Lima Church. Entombment took place at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702. Frederick R. Higley Mr. Higley, 73, of the Silvermead section of Freehold Township, died May 14 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Rahway, he had resided in Freehold Borough before moving to Silvermead 12 years ago. For most of his life, he worked as a packaging developer for E.R. Squibb & Sons (now Bristol-Myers Squibb), New Brunswick, and Revlon and Conair, both of Edison. Prior to his death, he was the transportation coordinator for Freehold Regional High School District’s transportation department, Freehold Township. A Korean War veteran, he was a drill instructor in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Higley was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, where in 1954 he and his wife were married. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Cpl. Philip A. Reynolds Detachment Marine Corps League, both of Freehold. Mr. Higley was predeceased by two brothers, Clifton E. Higley and Donald Higley. Surviving are his wife of nearly 51 years, Margaret Kelsey Higley; a sister, Barbara Olivacz of Hazlet; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Liz Higley of Manalapan, Ray and Teri Higley of Freehold, and Joe Higley and Luba Zaharin Higley of Holmdel; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Eileen Higley Korz of Freehold, Lynne Higley Coulson of Freehold Township and her companion, Kevin Mullan of Highlands, and Joan Higley, Carol and Scott Kurczeski, and Peggy and Jared Earhart, all of Freehold Township; 20 grandchildren; and a great-grandson, Tyler. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church. Cremation was private. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
