      Disma C. Moore

      Mrs. Moore, 81, of Riverview, Fla., died March 30 in Florida. She had resided in Freehold before moving to Florida. Mrs. Moore was predeceased by a son, Randy "Boe" Moore; a brother, Fiorenzo Fedullo; and a sister, Marie Cantalise. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Frank T. "Whitey" Moore; and a son, Danny Moore of Riverview. Funeral services were held in Florida April 5.

      Elbert M. Taylor

      Mr. Taylor, 87, of Jackson, died April 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Manalapan, he had resided there all his life before moving to Jackson four years ago. He attended Rider College (now University) in Lawrenceville and was the proprietor of Taylor & Kincaid Florist in Manalapan for 45 years prior to retiring in 1982. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He was a charter member of the Farmingdale First Aid Squad; member of the Manalapan Fire Company, where he served as secretary for 35 years; and charter member and past president of the Farmingdale Kiwanis Club. In addition, he served on the Manalapan-Englishtown Planning Board for 12 years and was president of the Freehold Savings and Loan Association, where he also served on the board of directors for 45 years and as chairman of the board. Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Sue) Taylor; two sons, William H. Taylor of Rowlett, Texas, and Glen R. Taylor of Greeley, Colo.; a daughter, Diane Lykes of Manalapan; a stepdaughter, Robin Schwertfeger of Providence, R.I.; and five grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

      Irene McGackin

      Mrs. McGackin, 88, of Freehold, died April 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was employed at the American Hotel, Freehold, for many years and later at Freehold Raceway as a parimutuel clerk until she retired in 1981. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mrs. McGackin was predeceased by her husband, John E. McGackin, in 1996; a son, Freehold Borough Mayor John G. McGackin, in 1984; and a brother, William Bryan. Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, William and Jean McGackin of Farmingdale, Dennis and Kathy McGackin and Richard and Eileen McGackin, all of Freehold, and Gerald and Colleen McGackin of Newark, Del.; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Lester Preston Sr. of Freehold; a sister, Helen Evans of Freehold; 21 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Freehold Fire Department, 49 W. Main St., Freehold 07728; or the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad, 18 Spring St., Freehold 07728.

      Angelo A. Tomasello

      Mr. Tomasello, 78, of Whiting, died April 20 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Matawan, he was a lifelong resident prior to moving to Whiting nine years ago. He was a self-employed ceramic tile contractor at Tomasello Brothers, Matawan, retiring in 1995. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an assistant with Boy Scout Troop 232, Matawan. He was a past member of St. Joseph's Knights of Columbus, Keyport, and the Matawan Italian Club. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathryn Borowsky Tomasello of Whiting; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Donna Tomasello of Manalapan, Anthony Tomasello of Wall, and John and Fran Tomasello of Marlboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maryann and Arnold Zimmerman of Ocean, and Diane and Chet Scalzo of Matawan; three brothers, Humbert Tomasello of Florida, Victor Tomasello of Matawan, and Vincent Tomasello of Connecticut; a sister, Carmela Dzwil of Matawan; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, with interment at the church's cemetery. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

      Denis Meagher

      Mr. Meagher, 64, of Howell, died April 24 at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a graduate of St. Francis College in Brooklyn and had lived in Freehold for the past 28 years. He attended Indiana University in Bloomington and Syracuse University in New York while in the military, where from 1961-71 he served as a member of the U.S. Air Force Security Forces. He was employed in the commercial insurance industry in both New York City and Cleveland. Mr. Meagher was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and a member of Knights of Columbus Freehold Council No. 1672. A train enthusiast, he enjoyed cooking and cruising the Caribbean. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jo Ryan Meagher; a daughter, Mary Kennedy; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Alicia Meagher; two sisters, Catherine Ann Trancho and Virginia Meagher; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, with Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset 08873.

      Nancy Giovenco Mauriello

      Mrs. Mauriello, 83, of Brick, died April 20 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Born in Kearny, she had resided in the Morgan section of Sayreville for 36 years before moving to Brick two years ago. Mrs. Mauriello was predeceased in December 2003 by her husband, Louis N. Mauriello. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Mauriello of Brick, and Rosemarie and Tom Pollando of Sayreville; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kathleen Mauriello of North Brunswick; a sister, Anita Bressen of Toms River; three brothers, Richard Giovenco of Caldwell, Rudy Giovenco of Howell and George Giovenco of Sayreville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Funeral services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin section of Sayreville, followed by a Mass at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. Burial took place at Christ Church Cemetery, also South Amboy.

      William Goldfine

      Dr. Goldfine, formerly of Freehold, died April 9 at the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center, Moffitt/Long Hospital. The youngest of 13 children, he was born in Old Bridge and was a longtime resident of Freehold before moving to California in 2003. A 1950 graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry, he practiced optometry in Monmouth County, spending most of his time in Freehold prior to retiring in 1999. During World War II, Dr. Goldfine served in the U.S. Navy Signal Corps. An active member of the community, he was president of the Exchange Club and the Freehold Lions Club; founder and president of the Battleground Arts Center, Freehold; president of Congregation Agudath Achim, Freehold, and longtime chairman of its Chevra Kadisha Society; a charter member and president of the Monmouth County chapter of Jewish War Veterans and the recipient of its Man of the Year award; deputy director of civil defense for the Freehold Borough Council; and a member of the executive board of the Monmouth County Mental Health Association, Eatontown. For many years, Dr. Goldfine also served on the executive council of the Monmouth County Boy Scouts of America, where he received its highest honor, the Silver Beaver Award. A passionate golfer and opera lover, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Laura Goldfine of Salt Lake City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Jeff Glick of Bethesda, Md., and Drs. Mona and Jay Goldman of Piedmont, Calif.; a sister, Secye Yaro of Manhattan, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Manalapan.
