      Auditions

      Phoenix Productions will hold auditions for its September production of "Annie Get Your Gun" at the Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank. Auditions will be held July 20, 21 and 22 from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Rehearsal Center, 111 Monmouth St., Red Bank.       Center Players, Freehold, will hold auditions for its November Signature Series presentation of "Avow," written by Bill C. Davis and directed by David Sorin of Howell. "Avow" is a dramatic comedy that deals with contemporary religion’s role in the balance of passion and faith. A synopsis, character descriptions and further audition information is available at the Web site www.CenterPlayers.org.

      Open auditions for the non-union, no-pay production will be held at the Center Playhouse, 35 South St., Freehold, July 17 at 2 p.m. and July 19 at 8 p.m.

      Needed are two male actors in their late 20s to early 30s; one male in his early 40s; one male in his late 60s to 80s; one female early 30s; one female mid-60s; and one female mid-50s to 60s. Material will be provided, but actors are encour­aged to bring a prepared monologue and headshot, if available. Callbacks will be scheduled if necessary. Rehearsals will begin in August.       The Festive Flutes, a semi-profes­sional flute choir, will hold auditions for new members throughout the month of July. Adults and advanced high school students with good sight-reading ability are welcome to audition. Call (732) 922-2273 to schedule an audition appoint­ment.

      Monmouth Players, Middletown, will hold auditions for Agatha Christie’s "Go Back for Murder" on Aug. 2-3 at 8 p.m. at the Navesink Library Theater, Sears and Monmouth avenues, Middletown. Needed are six men between the ages of 25 and 50, and four women between ages 15 and 50. All roles are open. The production will run in October.       Mighty Oak Players, a nonprofit community theater in Monroe Township, Middlesex County, is seeking submissions from directors for its upcoming 2004-05 season. Interested individuals should submit their résumés along with a list of shows they would like to direct. Well-known, mainstream shows require no ex­planation, but if the play is a little-known work, a one- or two-paragraph synopsis of the plot should be included.
