      Optimists honor CentraState volunteers
      Community Bulletin Board Optimists honor CentraState volunteers

      In a ceremony held recently at Applewood Estates in Freehold Township, the Noontime Optimist Club of Freehold honored the 75 CentraState Healthcare student volunteers and their director, Joan Nealon, with a proclamation from Freehold Township declaring Youth Appreciation Week.

      The ceremony was led by Sharon Goldman, the club’s president, along with chairperson Carole Robinson and co-chair Ann Denise Rubino. Two of the students, Jason Krausman and Matthew Berkowitz, spoke about their experiences in the volunteer program.

      ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ Dec. 4-6 at Freehold H.S.

      Freehold Borough High School will present Joseph Kesselring’s play "Arsenic and Old Lace" Dec. 4, 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. The quirky play takes place in a Victorian house in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., during the 1940s. The plot revolves around the Brewster family and its eccentric family members.

      The production is directed by Joseph Reilly, along with stage manager Rachel Fee. Tickets are available at (732) 462-7748 for $5, or at the door for $6. The theater is located on Robertsville Road and Route 79.
