Vote to abstain on plan shows no leadership

What has transpired in Marlboro would be funny if it were not so sad. When the Democrats gained control of the Township Council they bragged how they would make Marlboro "better, not bigger."

I do not think the voters thought that "better" meant approving a use variance that enables a housing development to be built on a commercial piece of property, as your article "Tennent Estates Gains OK in 7-0 Zoning Board Vote" on July 30 points out.

This vote shows that no piece of land in Marlboro is safe from the housing developers. The citizens of Marlboro need to remember this vote come November.

One of the Democratic candidates for council happens to be T. Grover Burrows, who coincidently happened to abstain from the Tennent Estates vote. What kind of leadership is that? Is Mr. Burrows going to come before the voters in November and tell us how he is going to stand up for us against over-development? If he does it is pure hypocrisy.
