      GEORGE D. ARCHER, 69, of Farmingdale died Sept. 5 at home. Born in Long Branch, he had lived in Freehold for 44 years before moving to the Farmingdale-Howell area. He was a land surveyor for Charles Widdis & Co., Long Branch, for the past eight years. He is survived by his wife, Doris M.; a son, David W. of Farmingdale; a daughter, Diane Camhi of North Long Branch; a sister, Caroline Archer of Toms River; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 21 at First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, 8 Main St., with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Richards officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902.

      VINCENT CONNELLY, 73, of Marlboro died Sept. 12 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, he had been a resident of Marlboro for the past 32 years. Mr. Connelly was a conductor for Amtrak in Manhattan before retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marine. He was a member of the United Transit Union and a national representative of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees. Mr. Connelly is survived by his wife, Anne; a son, Vincent of Baltimore; two daughters, Paula Block of Manasquan and Ann Skowron of Point Pleasant; a brother, Michael, and a sister, Florence Gomroy, both of Dover, Del.; and two grandchildren. Interment was private.

      VERNICE "LIZ" RIOPEL, 70, of Toms River died Sept. 13 at home. Born in Belzoni, Miss., she lived in Marlboro for many years before moving to Toms River seven years ago. Mrs. Riopel was an assembly person for Air Cruisers Inc., Belmar, for 30 years before retiring in 1989. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, who died in 1998. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Paul and Michael Getmanov of Howell; two brothers, Roy Cobb of Howell and Pete Cobb of Fairburn, Ga.; two sisters, Sally Jane Chamberlain of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Audrey Casey of Deltona, Fla.; and one granddaughter. Interment took place at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

      MICHAEL J. ADORNETTO, 89, of Marlboro died Sept. 5 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Hoboken, he had lived in Jersey City before moving to Marlboro in 1987. Mr. Adornetto was a railroad worker for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, Hoboken, where he was employed for 50 years before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro; a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1509, Lyndhurst; and a member of Deborah Hospital Auxiliary. Mr. Adornetto was predeceased by his wife, Anna, who died in 1999; and a brother, Charles, who died in 2001. Surviving are two sons, Joseph R. of Marlboro and John M. of Howell; a sister, Katherine Elia of Eatontown; and a grandson. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by entombment at Forest Green Park Mausoleum, Marlboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville 07834.

      CATHERINE A. LAWRENCE, 83, of Freehold Township, died Sept. 6 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Lakewood, she had lived in Upper Freehold Township before moving to Freehold Township in 1949. Mrs. Lawrence was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Siloam Methodist Church, Freehold Township, and a member of the Freehold Township Independent Fire Co. No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Lawrence was predeceased by her husband, Gordon M., who died in 1970. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Miller C. and Frances of Freehold Township; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. The Rev. Lynn Wilson officiated at the funeral services, which were followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

      ALBERT M. "TED" BECK, 63, of Allenhurst died Sept. 8 at Tisch Hospital, New York City. Born in Butler, Pa., he had lived in Freehold and Colts Neck before moving to Allenhurst. Mr. Beck was the owner and operator of McKelvey’s Furniture Store, Freehold, from 1970 to 1987. He was also an owner of Freehold Electric, Freehold, from 1980 to 1992. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Deal; and a member and former house committee chairman of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1454, Freehold. Mr. Beck is survived by a daughter, Jeanine L. Beck of Oceanport; two brothers, Robert L. "Bud" Beck of Freehold and George W. Beck of Holmdel; and his former wife, Linda J. Beck. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold, followed by interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
