Senior citizen offers support for two Manalapan incumbents

I was shocked at the derogatory letter by Andrew Lucas in your July 31 issue headlined "Manalapan Incumbents’ Records Raises A Lot Of Questions."

He stressed his surprise on learning that our mayor, Rebecca Aaronson, and deputy mayor, William Scherer, were running again for Township Committee. Then he reveals his dislike for our mayor which to me shows he is evidently clearing the way for a Republican foe, or why else would he be going after our mayor mainly?

Think about this — there are five Township Committee members where majority rules, yet he goes after Mayor Aaronson. Is it because he fears her publicity, or because she is a rising female star in the Democratic party?

Mr. Lucas then writes about Mayor Aaronson running on a promise to dramatically reduce our taxes.

Can he show our readers which elected officials today would adhere to this promise in our economic downfall caused by President Bush and the Republican party?

Then he brings out his personal beliefs he feels Mayor Aaronson is responsible for. I disagree with him on many of these issues, but he has the right to his feelings and agendas as well as I and others do.

I ran for the Democratic County Committee in District 15 of Covered Bridge I in Manal-apan and won handily with the support of many of the residents in this senior community.

The reason I chose to run for this office was that I wanted to help all the Manalapan Township Committee members get re-elected for their dedicated work and support for seniors in Manalapan and especially in Covered Bridge.

I and many supporters here will be working very hard for the re-election of Rebecca Aaronson and William Scherer and all I ask of the voters is that if you are not voting for Sen. (Robert) Torri-celli, please don’t take it out on the others running on his ticket. All you need do is vote from the bottom up.
