Patrick Michael Rucker, author of This Troubled Land: Voices From Northern Ireland on the Front Lines of Peace, will give a talk at Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Manalapan, at 7 p.m. July 11. Rucker moved to Belfast in 1998 in order to write the book in which he speaks with victims, assassins, thugs, soldiers and the peace campaigners who are involved in the struggle between the Catholics an Protestants, Loyalists and Republicans in Northern Ireland. The book is a record of the actions, emotions and thoughts of those who lived through "the troubles," according to a press release. More ... The Christian Neighbors of Covered Bridge, Manalapan, will sponsor a trip to Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire Sept. 23-27. The tour will include two nights in Vermont and two in New Hamp-shire, an evening of entertainment, four breakfasts, four dinners, and visits to the Maple Museum; the Calvin Coolidge Homestead; Quechee Gorge; Dartmouth College; Kennebunkport; views of the White Mountains; the Portland Headlight lighthouse; and the Mohegan Sun casino. All works submitted will be juried by a panel of judges who are professionally affiliated with theater or literature.
