      GERALD C. KELLY, 64, of Freehold Township died March 22 at his daughter’s home in Reading, Mass. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Glen Ridge before moving to Freehold Township in 1969. He was a practicing attorney from 1967 to 1990 and an estate planner from 1990 to the present. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Freehold Township, where he was an usher and a member of the church’s finance committee and building committee. He was a 1959 graduate of Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., and a 1964 graduate of Yale Law School, New Haven, Conn. He was a past president of the Harvard Club of New Jersey and a past president of the Yale Law School Association of New Jersey. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1959 to 1961, and retired as a major in the U.S. Army Active Reserve after serving 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Noreen; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lisette and Kirk Dailey of Kildeer, Ill., Kathaleen and Mario Cutone of Reading, Mass., Noreen and Gary Morgenstern of Woodbury, Conn., and Aileen Kelly of Lake Placid, N.Y.; a brother, George Kelly of Ortley Beach; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Patricia Medley and the Rev. Albert Gibson officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Harvard College Fund, Class of 1959, 180 Mount Auburn St., Cambridge, MA 02138.

      FLORENCE EAGAN, 80, of Howell died March 10 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Freehold Township before moving to Howell five years ago. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, William J., who died in 1999. She is survived by three sons, Richard C. of Houston; Terence P. of Jackson and Christopher W. of Bangor, Maine; a daughter, Patricia Grace of Brooksville, Maine; and five grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

      SMITH L. WILLIAMS JR., 68, of Farmingdale died March 10 at home. He was born in Tuskegee, Ala. He was a machine operator for the Phelps Dodge Co., Marlboro, for 18 years and later for Sunshine Biscuits, Howell, before his retirement in 1998. He served in the U.S. Army for four years in the late 1950s. He was a member of the Old Ship of Zion Baptist Church, Englishtown, where he had been a deacon for the past 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jenkins Williams; a son, Nelson of Farmingdale; a daughter, Rhonda Williams of Freehold; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services were held at the Old Ship of Zion Church, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

      GERALD LEVINE, 69, of Howell died March 12 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Long Branch before moving to Howell 36 years ago. He owned and operated Key Systems, Howell, a fire alarm equipment manufacturing company, for 35 years, retiring in 1995. He was a Sgt. 1st Class in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a former mayor of Howell, serving from 1981-82, and served on the Township Committee in 1980. He was a member, former chief and past president of the board of fire commissioners for the Freewood Acres Fire Company, Howell. He was the former director of the Office of Emergency Management in Howell, and had been the Monmouth County representative to the Ocean County Utilities Authority. He was a member and former president of the Freehold Rotary and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was president emeritus of the New Jersey Fire Engine and Equipment Museum and a member of the British Fire Brigade Society in Great Britain. He is survived by his wife, Sally; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Levine of Rockaway, and Barry and Darlene Levine of Lakewood; two stepsons and two stepdaughters-in-law, Gary and Anne Fox of Sanford, Fla., and Don and Stephanie Fox of Jacksonville, Fla.; two stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Dale and Dan Lauricella of Ridgway, Pa., and Cynthia Ibrahim of Freehold Township; a brother, Sidney Levine of Plantation, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Toby and Seymour Friedman of Wayne; and eight step-grandchildren. Interment was at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.       HOIL CHUNG, 47, of Freehold Township died March 13 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Seoul, South Korea, he had lived in Rhode Island for three years and in Stamford, Conn., for four years before moving to Freehold Township in 1990. He was an analysis engineer at U.S. Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck, from 1990-2001. He was a 1985 graduate of Brown University, Providence, R.I., where he earned a master of science degree in solid mechanics. He is survived by his wife, Sunhe Chung; a brother, Jangil; and five sisters, Eunae of Piscataway, Eunja, Eunhee, Eunsun, all of Korea, and Eunsoon of Las Vegas. Memorial services were held at First United Methodist Church of Freehold, with the Rev. Myrna Bethke officiating.

      WALTER MONTGOMERY BROWN, 94, of Freehold Township died March 13 at Freehold Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Freehold Township. Born in Harrison, he had lived in Freehold Township since 1967. A 1928 graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, he was employed by General Electric Co., Lynn, Mass., for two years; Consolidated Edison Co. of New York for 12 years, and Combustion Engineering (Lummus Co.), Bloomfield, for 25 years before retiring in 1967. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Freehold, where he served on the church council for several years, including four terms as council president. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris, who died in April. He is survived by a son, James M. of Chatham; a daughter, Jeanne E. Pearson of Massapequa, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Francis Watson officiating, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
