Manalapan will face important municipal issues in coming years

We ran for Manalapan Township Committee because we felt we could make a difference. The campaign was a great experience. We particularly enjoyed meeting people and handing out blue spruce in June and the "Spal-deens" in the fall. The trees and the balls brought smiles to adults and children alike.

The issues of open space preservation, high property taxes and improving education will be with us for the foreseeable future. There are two ways to contribute: get involved at some level or vote. Many of us barely have the time to run from sporting event to school function and simply cannot devote the hours necessary for community service. However, all of us can vote. Only 47 percent of eligible Manalapan voters came out to vote on Nov. 6. We can do better.

We wish to thank the thousands of people who voted for us and the many people who worked on our campaign, and we congratulate Mary Cozzolino and Beth Ward on their successful campaign. We are proud to be members of this community and look forward to contributing to Manalapan in the future.
