      Library seeks new books
      for needy children

The Monmouth County Library System launched its annual "Books for Kids" book donation drive Nov. 1. Last year, thousands of disadvantaged children from all across New Jersey were given the chance to own a book of their very own through this program.

Books for children from preschool through age 14 are needed, and multicultural titles are especially appreciated. Book donations will be accepted through Dec. 1 at either the Manalapan, Marlboro, Howell or Colts Neck branch of the Monmouth County Library System. For details, call (732) 431-7227.

The president of the National Conference of State Legislatures, Sen. Steve Saland (D-N.Y.), has appointed Assemblywoman Clare Farragher (R-Monmouth), New Jersey Assembly Deputy Speaker, to serve on a special National Conference of State Legislatures Task Force to Streamline and Simplify Insurance Regulation. The inaugural meeting of this new task force was held Oct. 28-29 in Washington, D.C.

The National Conference of State Legislatures is a bipartisan organization dedicated to serving the lawmakers and staffs of the nation’s states, commonwealths and territories, and to improving the quality and effectiveness of state legislatures.
